山海关：在河北省秦皇岛市东北15公里处，北依燕山，南临渤海，地势险要。它是东北、华北间的咽喉要冲，兵家必争之地，素有“京都锁钥”之称。明洪武十四年（1381年）大将徐达在此构筑长城，建关设卫，因关在山海之间，所以叫“山海关”。

居庸关：位于北京昌平县西北部，是长城险关之一。关城建筑在一条长达15公里的溪谷中间，这条溪谷叫做“关沟”。两旁山峦重叠，树木葱郁，景色优美，金代称为“居庸叠翠”，曾列为燕京八景之一。居庸关的地势非常险要，是古代北京的西北门户，为历代兵家必争之地。

娘子关：在山西阳泉东部，始建于唐初，为长城重要关隘。唐太宗之妹平阳公主曾率军驻此，故易名为“娘子关”。此处山势陡峭，飞瀑高挂，形势险要。

平型关：在山西省繁峙县东北，是长城要口之一。为晋北通往河北的交通要道冲。
